Introduction Letter from the President

Thank you for visiting the website of the Professional Home and Property Inspectors of Canada (PHPIC). On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Advisory Council, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you.

Membership in PHPIC is an earned credential and the best evidence of an Inspector's competence and professionalism. PHPIC is at the leading edge of the Canadian home inspection profession and the 'PHPI' designation ("Professional Home Property Inspector") is our prestigious designation of competency.

Those aspiring to become members of PHPIC will have their credentials assessed and reviewed by the PHPIC Certification Council when submitting their application and supporting documentation for membership.  Please note that such assessments are not done for the public (non-members), and exemption questions cannot be answered on the telephone or by email, but are decided in committee.

We are extremely proud of our accomplishments which include being the only Canadian home inspection organization to have our credentials and certification procedures evaluated by an independent body and found to be in reasonable compliance with CAN-P-9 and hold an equivalency agreement with the National Home Inspectors Certification Council (NHICC).  No other association has been able to achieve this distinct honour.

PHPIC is not an association of associations……there are no provincial bodies in our corporate structure, thus eliminating provincial politics.  We are not affiliated with CAHPI nor are we in competition with any existing home inspection association or organization.  We are a National organization fully supporting the National Initiative and promoting the National Certificate Holder™ designation.  Membership is open to every home inspector in Canada no matter what affiliation he or she may or may not have wishing to achieve National Certification.  "We are here to help"!

It is our hope that your membership in PHPIC will be educational, beneficial and a positive experience.
