Dear Colleague, PHPIO is dedicated to providing every home inspector in Ontario no matter what affiliation he or she may have, a clear path to obtaining their National Certificate Holder designation with the NCA (National Certification Authority) The NCA is a separate body of CAHPI National (Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors) and operates at arms length under their own banner. PHPIO is not affiliated with CAHPI National. Our sole purpose is to support and promote the National Certificate Holder designation in Ontario. This is the new gold standard for home inspectors across Canada. As Canada moves forward implementing licensing the home inspection profession, two key factors have come into play. Based on the British Columbia criteria for licensing, two designations have been nationally accepted, the NCA's National Certificate Holder designation and CAHPI RHI designation. Both of these designations require rigor and verification and have been supported by various government agencies. Atlantic Canada, Alberta and Quebec are all currently addressing the licensing issue of our profession with their respective government agencies. Here in Ontario both PHPIO and CAHPI/Ontario have been active in addressing the licensing issue in our Province. PHPIO recently held it's first 'Licensing Symposium' in London ON and has more planned throughout the Province in the coming months. Our symposiums are intended to provide you with information and allow you an opportunity to voice your opinions. As licensing will effect the future of the home inspection profession in Ontario we encourage you to take part in these symposiums and obtain the information you will need to prepare for the future.
