I use the term colleague, since your BOD see you as a valuable team player in the advancement of our profession here in Ontario. Your participation is key, welcomed and desired. We all have an open door policy here at PHPIO and hope that you will contribute regularly and attend our RMG ( Regional Meeting Groups) which will begin within the next couple of months.
As you can see from the table of events listed below, no moss has gathered under our soles. This past 10 months has been quite an eventful period for us all and we are quite proud and pleased with the feedback to date from all key stakeholders, both in industry, and at the Federal and Provincial government levels. The name PHPIO is becoming more and more the name for qualified field tested professional Home Inspectors in Ontario and we are less than a year old.
I have to give full credit to this exceptional BOD of skilled, talented and experienced people, who have successfully launched our association and to you the members for recognizing this by joining PHPIO. We also have an exceptional Advisory Council who represent all facets of the home inspection industry and bring to the table a well rounded advisory council that can guide us as the need arises.
Our membership numbers are growing by the day, as we had planned and hoped for. With your continued support in 2009-10 we will continue to fulfill our mission statement and provide our members with the level of assistance they deserve. Your participation is key to our success and for the betterment of PHPIO. So please do your part as a member of the PHPIO team wherever you can. Collectively we are strong and we will make the necessary changes to improve the lives of HIs in Ontario.
If you did or did not have the opportunity to attend the London Symposium on Licensing In Ontario, I would encourage you to attend the next one in Peterborough in September, or the fall sessions planned for Toronto and Ottawa.
PHPIO is here to stay in Ontario and here to serve its members all the way, all the time!

Our First 10 Months
As a member, you may have wondered what the Board of Directors has been doing on your behalf. To say the least, we have been very busy working to improve the home inspection profession in Ontario and gaining recognition of PHPIO as a major player in our province.
Highlights of the past ten months are as follows:
November 2008 - Tech Fair and the official grand opening of PHPIO, Kingston, Ontario.
December 2008 - The formation of our very distinguished Advisory Counsel. View
January 2009 - Our new website went live and is being constantly updated. View
February 2009 - Applied for equivalency with the National Certification Program.
April 2009 - Made Canadian history by being the only non-CAPHI organization to achieve equivalency with the NCA.
July 2009 - Find an Inspector search feature activated on our web site.
August 2009 - First ever home inspector Licensing Symposium held in London, Ontario.

We now have the capability to list you in different geographical locations in our Find an Inspector locator. If you service more than one area on the map please email us at info@phpio.ca and we will add the changes for you. There is no fee for this service.
Our first symposium held in London was a great success, like so many of these events attendance was lower than anticipated, however the content was outstanding. As a direct result from the feedback of the attendees and direction from our panel PHPIO will be actively pursuing licensing for the home inspection profession in Ontario on your behalf.
The criteria set with legislation in B.C. will in all likelihood be the adapted model across Canada as licensing unfolds. The recognized credentials are the NCA's National Certificate Holder and CAHPI's RHI. Of all the designations out there these are the only two that have validation and have been recognized by various government agencies.
Our next symposium will be in Peterborough on Wednesday September 30th more details will be sent to you as they become available. We will also be holding symposiums in Ottawa and Toronto before going to Queen's Park.
This is your future. You are strongly encouraged to attend as many of these symposiums as possible!
Help Improve Our Ranking!
Our web site has now been optimized to help improve our rankings. Please link to our site. All inbound links help the search engines determine the importance of a site. This will also help the consumer find a qualified PHPIO inspector.
1- Very shortly, notification will be going out for RGM (regional meetings groups) established throughout the province. This will be an excellent opportunity for educational credits and camaraderie with your fellow inspectors.
2- The PHPIO forum will be up and running shortly. This is a members only message board, password protected. When we have this added feature live we will be sending you your access instructions.
3- Next month's News Letter will contain information on how to reduce your liability with simple changes to your contract and updates from the Workplace Safety Board and more.
