CAHPI is moving forward to rejuvenate and improve the original PDI Program. Since 2005, CAHPI has received some very strong feedback from home builders, warranty firms, and many more inspectors. It has become obvious that a one-time inspection (PDI) might not satisfy the needs of everyone involved with the new house. Therefore, the program has been renamed the New Construction Inspection (NCI) program because it could involve one or several visits to each house at various stages of construction, at the time of occupancy, or sometime after that.
This new survey will help CAHPI decide what areas to concentrate their efforts on as they try to develop a program with a protocol, training and certification that will help inspectors provide beneficial advice for consumer protection, but at the same time the process needs to be palatable for home builders.
