December 22, 2008 Letter from the President On behalf of the Board of Directors of PHPIO , I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone, "best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season". As we approach the end of 2008 and in keeping with our commitment to keep our membership informed, it was felt that this was the perfect time of the year to let you know what has transpired. The Board of Directors has been very busy working for you and improving our member benefits. In their annual letter to every MP, MPP, Government agency and VIP in Canada, CAHPI has given PHPIO recognition and a very warm welcome to the Home Inspection profession in Ontario. This is the first step as we work on achieving full Provincial equivalency as a CAHPI member. We will also be submitting our equivalency agreement to the NCA early in the New Year. Both of these steps have been a major undertaking and offer our members the recognition they deserve. We are very pleased to announce that we have trademarked and registered Professional Home and Property Inspector (PHPI). It is our hope that this acronym (PHPI) will soon become the provincial symbol for excellence, fair representation and true professionalism for Home Inspectors throughout Ontario. PHPIO has two categories of membership. The Candidate level is for all members who are aspiring to obtain their National Certificate over the next two years from the date of registration with PHPIO. The Full Member category is for those who have successfully met the National Certificate Holder requirements. PHPIO Full Members will be awarded a certificate and the rights to use the P.H.P.I (Professional Home & Property Inspector) designation. The National Certificate Holder designation is the new gold standard for home inspectors across Canada. With it, we can ensure our clientele that they will receive professional home inspection services that are uniformly consistent from coast to coast to coast. We are very proud of the fact that our inspectors have undergone some of the most comprehensive technical and rigorous field testing requirements found in the industry today. The National Certification Authority is dedicated to its commitment of excellence by requiring that all National Certificate Holders be regularly re-tested to ensure that their level of competency does not falter in the future. PHPIO Full Members should wear this designation proudly as they have set a new standard and are true national ambassadors for their profession. New membership certificates for full members should be arriving in the mail shortly. The Board of Directors is committed to raising the bar in the Province of Ontario and providing every home inspector the opportunity to become ‘National Certificate Holders'. Through our mandate we will continue to work for our members and consumers alike, to provide the highest level of service and professionalism possible. Along with all the economic uncertainties, 2009 brings with it a lot of hope. As times get tough the consumer will be looking for qualified professionals to inspect their perspective property and PHPIO will be out front promoting our members. Our website is currently undergoing a major overhaul to do just that. Campaigns are being planned to market the entire Ontario Real Estate Association promoting PHPIO and its members. We will be working to improve our member perks (e.g. NCA equivalency to reduce the costs involved in applying for National Certificate Holder accreditation for our candidate members, insurance discounts, affiliated membership in ASHI for their educational training, etc). As we move into a new year, please accept our wishes of health, happiness and continued success in the home inspection profession. We look forward to working with you in the years to come. Best regards,
Paul Wilson, National Certificate Holder, PHPI, RHI President, PHPIO |
