PHPIO Tech Fair - Kingston, ON - November 30, 2008

On Sunday November 30^th, 2008, PHPIO held its grand opening in conjunction with the first Canadian Technical Fair for Home Inspectors. This free event was well attended by over 100 home inspectors from all across the province. Many had been in Kingston to attend the largest TIPR ever held "East of the Rockies" on Saturday the 29 th which boasted over 2 dozen candidates

The Tech Fair had over a dozen technical specialists from several companies set up in a booth format where you could walk in and talk to the pros....one-on-one!!  Companies like STAXX, Gas-Tech. Leggalett, HearthMakers, Renewable Energy and Shea's were present among others. They were invited to answer any questions on installations, problem areas and any technical questions that our visitors had for them. Exhibitors had installation displays; power point technical shows and tons of take-home info.

There were many booths with experts available to talk about installing solar and wind mechanicals in homes, installations and options for pellet stoves, repairing wet basements. There were displays about Bakor, yellow jacket and blue skin, ICF foundations, "air heated floors", answers about the Eco-Energy Program, forced air heating systems and just about anything TSSA related.  
    
In the afternoon, PHPIO hosted a well attended information session on why becoming part of the "Canadian Solution" to a CMHC recognized certification in Canada, is now available to every Ontario Home Inspector. PHPIO President, Paul Wilson, Treasurer, Bill Mullen and Board Member, Claude Lawrenson, all spoke with respect to PHPIO's Mission Statement and the need for a clear path to National Certification for all home inspectors across Ontario regardless of their association affiliation. A question and answer period ensued that proved to be very informative and well received.

PHPIO also had a booth open during the HI's-Tech Fair for all to drop by. PHPIO Administrator, Penny Fulton was on hand accepting applications and answering questions. Penny's friendly and approachable manner was well received and commented upon many times over the course of the event.

This first ever Tech Fair was a huge success and a special thank you goes out to Cam Allen for all his hard work in making this event a reality.
